Poetry in Motion - the lost Under Milk Wood manuscript, Soho, 1953
The night before flying off to promote it, Dylan Thomas misplaced the original manuscript of Under Milk Wood on one of his legendary pub crawls in Soho. The following morning, he retraced what he could remember of his steps and thankfully found it.
To create this work, Mychael Barratt obtained a copy of the entire text of Under Milk Wood, removed the spine and was photographed by Andrew Hayes-Watkins throwing the pages in the air. A screen was made from the photographs of these airborne pages by Mychael’s daughter Matilda Barratt and the entire project was expertly printed by Suki Hayes-Watkins at The Print Block. A truly collaborative process.
