Sarah Spackman RBA ROI is a British figurative painter best known for her carefully observed still lifes. Working predominantly in oil, she brings together flowers, fruit and other everyday objects in compositions characterised by subtle colour, clarity of form and a quiet sense of presence.

Drawing is fundamental to Spackman’s practice. Her paintings develop through close observation, repeated adjustment and careful consideration of the relationships between objects and the space surrounding them.

Spackman trained at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London before graduating from Camberwell School of Art in 1981. She works from a studio in Oxford, formerly used as a punt-building workshop, and has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and abroad.

She was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 2019 and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 2022. Her work has also been selected for the Jerwood Drawing Competition, New English Art Club and Discerning Eye exhibitions.
