Polly Dutton

Polly Dutton’s abstract realism blends tangible landscapes with abstract forms, creating a visual dialogue between reality and imagination. Inspired by nature, her en plein air sketches lay the groundwork for studio pieces that merge realism with abstract textures, emphasizing the interplay between the seen and unseen.

Dutton uses mixed media: acrylics, inks, collage, and sometimes found objects, building organic layers that add texture and depth. Her vibrant, nuanced palette evokes natural moods, balancing chaos with harmony to reflect nature’s dynamic order.

She has exhibited in the past few years at the Works on Paper Fair, Kensington, the Pastel Society, Mall Galleries as well as with galleries across the south-west of England.

In 2023, Kevis House Gallery, Petworth held an exhibition of her work, with a series of paintings inspired by the music and the members of Full Circle Jazz Quartet and poet Mandy Pannett.  In 2024 she exhibited with the same gallery in conjunction with Petworth Festival celebrating the anniversary of the composition of Gershwin’s Rhapsody.
