Megan Hatton
Megan Hatton is a British abstract artist whose work explores texture, calm and emotional depth through layered surfaces and a refined, intuitive palette. Based in Nottingham, Hatton paints from her home studio, creating large-scale works in acrylic and oil, often using palette knives and modelling paste to build a tactile, sculptural quality within the canvas.
Originally trained in fashion at Nottingham Trent University, she spent several years working in the fashion industry before shifting her focus to painting and yoga—two practices that now deeply inform one another in her daily life. Her painting process is meditative and slow, unfolding over weeks as she builds and reworks surfaces, often finishing with subtle touches of gold or silver leaf that lend a quiet luminosity to the work.
Hatton’s paintings are known for their tranquil presence and balance, often featuring soft, muted tones alongside carefully placed areas of contrast. Her aim is to create pieces that invite stillness and contemplation, echoing the mindfulness and physicality of her yoga practice.
Since committing to painting full-time, she has exhibited widely, including at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea and Hampstead. Her work is held in private collections in the UK and internationally, and she is represented by several contemporary galleries across the country.
