Linda Sutton MA (RCA) is a British painter and printmaker whose work draws on mythology, literature, opera and personal experience. Her figurative paintings often have a dreamlike, theatrical quality, combining recognisable characters and narratives with more autobiographical and imaginative elements.

Sutton works across painting, drawing and etching, returning frequently to themes drawn from classical mythology and the stage. Opera has become a particularly important source of inspiration, providing characters and situations through which she explores drama, identity and human relationships.

She studied at Winchester School of Art and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp before completing her MA at the Royal College of Art in 1974, where she was awarded the Painting Prize.

Sutton has exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition since the 1970s and has held numerous solo exhibitions in Britain and Italy. She has been President of the Small Paintings Group since 2022.
