Born in the Ukraine in 1965. Katya Gridneva trained at Academy of Fine Arts - St Petersburg (1993-1999).
Her considerable artistic talent was recognised by her acceptance in 1993 to the Academy of Fine Arts in St Petersburg without the usual prerequisite of a formal art training at one of the art schools. At the end of her first year she won first prize for her portraits. Katya graduated in 1999 and later that year moved to England where she worked as ‘Artist in Residence’ at Highclere Castle, painting portraits of the 7th Earl of Carnarvon and his family.
Katya has exhibited at the Pastel Society and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. She has held numerous solo and group shows in London and in leading provincial galleries throughout the UK. She has also exhibited in the USA, Germany and Russia and her work can be found in major collections in the UK, France, USA, Russia, Japan and Ireland.
