Jane Corsellis NEAC RWS

Jane Corsellis is a British painter known for her expressive figurative work in oils and watercolour. Working directly from observation, she paints landscapes, seascapes, interiors, still lifes and figures, with a particular sensitivity to changing light, colour and atmosphere.

Her paintings are rooted in recognisable subjects but often move towards abstraction through the arrangement of colour, tone and shape. Corsellis is especially interested in the unpredictability of watercolour, allowing the process of painting itself to influence the final image.

Born in Oxford, she studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, where she was awarded the Leverhulme Scholarship and the final-year Painting Prize. She later lived and worked in Spain, Hong Kong, Ottawa and Kuala Lumpur, as well as travelling extensively throughout Asia and Australia.

Corsellis is a longstanding member of the New English Art Club and the Royal Watercolour Society, and her work has been exhibited widely throughout her career.
