Hilke MacIntyre

Hilke MacIntyre (born 1964) is a German-born artist based near St Andrews, Scotland. She studied architecture at the College of Art & Architecture in Kiel before relocating to Scotland in 1995. In her work she embraces printmaking, ceramics and painting, often transferring her simplified figurative style across these media. MacIntyre explores bold shapes, strong colours, patterns and everyday life - drawing influences from folk art, early 20th-century design and the natural world. Her work has been selected for the annual exhibition of the Royal Scottish Academy on multiple occasions, and she exhibits widely across British galleries.

Specialising in linocuts, woodcuts and ceramic reliefs, MacIntyre depicts animals, people and scenes of daily life with clarity and warmth, balancing abstraction and figuration.
