Emma Hill

Emma Hill is a British figurative painter whose work encompasses still life, landscape, portraiture and intimate interior scenes. Working directly from life, she combines close observation with an intuitive response to colour, light and atmosphere.

Her paintings often focus on familiar subjects — flowers, objects, gardens and quiet domestic spaces — using them as a starting point for compositions that are both painterly and evocative. Her practice draws on the colour and visual language of Post-Impressionism, Cézanne, Les Nabis and the Bloomsbury Group.

Hill studied Fine Art and French at Exeter University and at the École Supérieure d’Art in Aix-en-Provence, later continuing her training at Heatherley School of Fine Art in London and the Florence Academy of Art.

She is an elected member of Chelsea Art Society and was invited to take part in Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year in 2023.
