Dana Finch

Dana Finch, a versatile artist from Cheshire, has spent much of her life exploring landscapes across the UK and Europe, drawing inspiration from the wild terrains of Denmark, Germany, Scotland, London, Devon and now Cornwall.

Her work, often characterised by a muted yet rich palette, reflects a deep connection to nature. She draws influences from deserts, rugged mountains and cultivated gardens, exploring semi-abstract forms that sit between recognition and abstraction. A childhood experience of visiting Moorish gardens and palaces in Spain has also left a lasting impression on her artistic vision.

Dana's paintings have gained recognition in private collections across the UK, US, and Europe, including at the University of Oxford. Her work challenges traditional composition and narrative, inviting viewers to engage on a personal level and interpret the balance between abstraction and familiar forms.

In 2025, Dana was awarded the Graham Sutherland Prize for her painting Swoop at the Wales Contemporary exhibition. The show opened in London at the Garrison Chapel, Chelsea Barracks on February 25th and will travel to Milford Haven, Wales, on March 21st for a couple of months.

Dana now works from her studio at Lower Kemyell, between Mousehole and Lamorna, perched above the sea and just a short walk from the coast path.

Her artwork invites reflection on the relationship between humanity and the natural world, using plants as symbols of broader themes. She captures the delicate balance between abstraction and recognition, encouraging a deeper connection to the world around us.
