Caroline McAdam Clark RBA RWS
Caroline McAdam Clark RBA RWS is a British painter whose work is inspired by landscape, travel and a strong sense of place. Working across watercolour, gouache, oil and mixed media, she draws on direct observation as well as memory and experience to create paintings that move between representation and a more personal, imaginative response to her surroundings.
Of French-Scottish heritage, McAdam Clark studied Fine Art at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art. Since the 1970s she has lived and worked between London and Suffolk, travelling frequently in France and further afield in search of new subjects and source material.
Over a long career she has worked as a painter, illustrator, muralist and designer, while exhibiting extensively in Britain and abroad. She has held more than twenty solo exhibitions, including numerous shows at the Thackeray Gallery and Piers Feetham Gallery in London.
McAdam Clark is a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and was elected a full member of the Royal Watercolour Society in 2011.
