Calum MacFarlane-Barrow
Calum MacFarlane-Barrow was born in 1932 and brought up in the Highlands of Scotland where he has lived all his life. From an early age he was captivated by the sea and its ever-changing moods, as well as by the rugged beauty of the Scottish mountains. His greatest pleasure remains walking the glens and climbing the Munros — hills rising over 3,000 feet — that have long inspired his work.
Although he only began painting seriously in 2000, MacFarlane-Barrow has since exhibited widely across Scotland and with us here in Woodstock. His distinctive knife-painted works are held in collections both in the UK and abroad, admired for their texture, vitality, and sense of place.
The Glen Coe Collection continues his exploration of the Scottish landscape, capturing the drama and atmosphere of one of its most iconic regions.
