Alison Rankin

Alison Rankin’s background as a designer and stylist has influenced her painting work tremendously, as have the many years she spent producing paint effects for interiors, furniture and photographic sets. All this together with her love of antique china and fabrics, along with simple well used domestic objects has led to her present still life style.

Alison works with a great emphasis on light, colour and composition, She loves conveying the weight and texture of fruit and vegetables, creating a classic and sensuous still life feel. Textures, shapes and colours are harmoniously combined to elevate the mere domestic to iconic status.

Alison exhibits her work widely through galleries and art fairs, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and particularly enjoys creating bespoke paintings and commissions. Recently Alison has been producing a range of contemporary still life paintings, usually just a large single fruit or vegetable painted on a plain background.
