Abedheera

Abedheera Imal Kumara is a professional artist living and working in Tangalle, Sri Lanka.   He was born in 1981, trained in the Arts and obtained a Statue Diploma from the Janakala Art Centre, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka.

He is a member of the Sri Lanka Art Society, and his colourful and cheerful acrylics portray the countryside around him and the birds, and his figurative pieces are inspired by Picasso and Cubism.

In 2008, he won First Prize in the Beijing Art Competition ‘Sri Lanka-China Friendship Foundation’ celebrating the Beijing Olympic Games. 

In 2009 he was awarded a Special Commendation in the Art Competition on Productivity by the National Productivity Secretariat Ministry of Labour Relations and Manpower.

He is a full time artist, and he was chosen as the main artist to have his works on  permanent display at one of the top hotels in the south of Sri Lanka.
