Mary McDonald

Mary is a Scottish contemporary artist with a confident, free and expressive handling of paint. She celebrates life, colour and energy from observing the landscape or domestic still life. Mary paints mainly with oils but also occasionally with mixed media.

Based on the peninsula Ardmore Point in the west of Scotland and with a second off grid lochside studio, her appreciation of skies and the rhythm of water to shoreline is a familiar, much loved, subject.

Born in Edinburgh in 1977 she studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, in Dundee, graduating in 2000. She then worked in commercial design for a number of years. Since becoming a full-time artist Mary has gathered a significant following, exhibited widely. Her work is in private collections in UK, Germany, France, Spain, Canada and New Zealand.
