Jenny Chan

Jenny was born in Hong Kong and grew up on a small island in Micronesia.  She moved to the UK in 2014 and started working with clay soon after.

Jenny creates figurative sculptures that celebrate women. Her work is unique and thought-provoking with a focus on women's faces and the stories behind them. Her designs are guided by her own life experiences as well as issues facing people across the globe. Jenny uses traditional hand-building techniques in coiling and slab building, using mainly stoneware clay.

The sculptures are partially press moulded, each piece is individually carved with impressions and inlay surface decoration.  They are created using coloured slips, oxides and underglazes with minimal glazes to emphasis the natural clay texture and colour.

Each piece is unique.
