Lisa Graa Jensen RI

 

Lisa Graa Jensen, born in Søborg, Denmark, is a distinguished artist and illustrator with a background in graphic design and book illustration. She honed her skills at the Sir John Cass School of Art in Whitechapel, London, and later at the Camberwell School of Art, where she earned a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design/Book Illustration.

Jensen's professional journey began as a full-time illustrator with BL Kearley Ltd., where she worked for prestigious clients such as Hamlyn, MacMillan, BBC Publications, and Puffin Books. She also created illustrations for greeting cards for well-known companies, showcasing her versatility and broad appeal.

From 1981 to 1983, Jensen served as an Assistant Art Therapist at Unstead Park Nursing Home in Godalming, Surrey. Since 1983, she has built a successful career as a freelance painter and book illustrator, earning numerous prizes and awards for her exceptional work.

Now residing and working near Wimbledon Common, Jensen's art is deeply influenced by her surroundings and her previous residence in rural France. Her whimsical, vibrant and colourful landscapes celebrate nature and the changing seasons, depicting animals, birds, and people in their everyday lives. Her paintings are a delightful fusion of charm and liveliness, capturing the beauty and simplicity of the natural world.
