Mike Hall 'Choosing the Light' book 23x23cm

Foreward by Lawson Bell on Mike Hall:

Throughout this book one can trace chronologically his development in style, subject matter and palette. The move from producing large scale abstract paintings to the figurative and more intimate works. Often these are interior scenes with the viewpoint through or from a window, there is an enigmatic quality to many of these paintings. Mike is aware of his audience and sets out to entertain them with the mystery of scenes devoid of people but with a narrative implied. The viewer cannot help but imagine who has just left the scene or who is about to arrive.

This book provides a fascinating insight into both the artist and his works, starting with his career in television designing sets to his working full-time as an artist and running painting tuition courses at his holiday home in rural France.
