Naomi Munuo

Naomi attended St Martins College London, where she studied a degree in Fashion Design. It was there that Naomi became interested in capturing the essence of human form using richly textured, irregular shaped layers and surfaces. In her paintings Naomi often explores the relationship between the object and its environment. Naomi’s parents both studied sculpture at the Royal Academy in the late 60’s. They still sculpt and paint in their studios in France.

Naomi’s work is autobiographical and uses colourful images and objects set in abstracted patterned environments combined with expressive superimposed detail.

Texture is created using mixed media in many of Naomi’s works on paper and canvas. This involves layering printed collage, wax resist, batik, ink, oil and pastels and paint. Naomi observes the world around her with passion and interprets it spontaneously.
