Gary Woodley

Gary was born in Ducklington, a small village in rural Oxfordshire. He started drawing and painting at a very early age, inspired by the wildlife and countryside around him. Accompanying his father on walks, Gary learned to observe the natural beauty of the landscape throughout the changing seasons.

Gary trained as a porcelain painter at the Boehm of Malvern Ceramic Studios in Worcestershire in1972, specialising in wildlife studies in bone china. After completing his training, he became a freelance artist producing wildlife studies.

Gary worked in partnership with Mollie Harris, the writer and broadcaster from ‘The Archers’. From 1989 to 1992 they  worked on a trilogy of books, ‘Where the River Windrush Flows’, ‘Wychwood,  The Secret Cotswold Forest’, and ‘The Striping Thames’, all published by Sutton publishing.
